The aim of the meeting was to decide how best to advocate for a YES vote across the Bega Shire.
We started by identifying what we thought were the KEY STRATEGIES ( big picture ideas )
We identified 6 key strategies ( these may be re-named / re-tagged as work continues).
– LIAISE WITH OTHER COMMUNITY GROUPS PROMOTING A YES VOTE
– MEDIA CAMPAIGN
– KITCHEN TABLE WORKSHOPS
– A ‘COMMUNITY CONVERSATION’ EVENT
– DISTRIBUTE PRINTED MATERIAL
– MEETINGS WITH INDIGENOUS GROUPS / TOURS / EVENTS
We went on to decide who would be Co-Ordinator ( strategy leader, contact point ) for each strategy. The co-ordinators role, loosely, is to gather together a band of helpers, be the central communications contact point for that strategy, convene meetings as necessary, and get the job done.
Thankfully we got a hand up for each strategy.
Like this………….

If you wish to contact any of the above co-ordinators with offers of help or whatever, please see email addresses immediately above.
Be assured each co-ordinator would appreciate your assistance in promoting a YES vote.
As co-ordinator of the ‘Distribute Printed Material’ strategy, I (Peter Reid) am happy to receive emails requesting copies of our six endorsed posters / flyers/ bumper stickers. Please contact me if you are willing to assist in
– placing posters in shop windows / community notice boards etc
– asking friends to put bumper stickers on their cars
– placing flyers in shops / gathering places etc
Two of our publicity papers are linked to this email. These you are free to print and distribute as you see fit.
We are attempting to cover the whole Shire, so it would be great to hear from people in far flung regions of the Shire who are willing to distribute printed material.
The SJA motto is “What can I do? How may I help?“
If you are keen to see the YES vote succeed, please get in touch with any or all of the co-ordinators above and offer assistance.
