Hope you can help us to support Potoroo Palace at our next working bee this Saturday 27th September starting at 9.30am till around 11.30am.

Please bring shovels and metal rakes to continue our work on the path below the lower dam. Crushed rock will be spread along this track.

BYO water and gloves and please stay afterwards for a cuppa at the Potoroo cafe.
 
We look forward to continuing our support of our Potoroo Palace and the amazing crew who care for our native animals.

Notes

Approx 55-60 guests subject to Coach capacity – approx 13 to 14 families

Maximum 5 family members – any age or nationality welcome

Host families to provide free accomm – Beds and Linen

Host families to provide the food subject to discussions with guests. We have found in the past the guest families will like to showcase their cooking

Guests to bring swimming gear, hats and sunscreen

All food supplied by the Social Justice Advocates will be Halal

Vegetarian and Gluten Free catered

An online Cultural Awareness course to be undertaken by the host families

Public Liability Insurance will cover the event

Host families to be encouraged to have a Working With Children check – but we

rely on children being supervised at all times. 

Entry fees to local attractions to be discussed by Guests and Host Families

SJA Youth group to attend International Permayouth Convergence in Timor Leste.

It will be held in Fatuquero, Ermera, from October 20th to 25th.


An all-ages Concert will be held at Covingtons, Pambula on Saturday 11th October.

It will run from 12.30 – 7.30, and feature members of the Dili Allstars plus several
other local musical acts. Tickets will go on sale soon, $40 adults and $20 students
and U18.

 

Please come along for a bit of fun and to support the Social Justice Advocates of the Sapphire Coast.

Well folks,

Since 2011 we (SJA) have been collecting and recycling furniture and household gear throughout our Bega Valley to help those in need 

This in conjunction with all the local service providers.

Now we’re re-examining a long standing, more substantive 

Furniture,  Recycling, Online, Gear  Initiative .

aka 'FROGI' —— 

 

1.  FROGI Part 1 is 

the SAMARITAN OP SHOP.

We will open a pop-up op shop known as 

The Samaritan Op Shop

 

The Samaritan op shop in the Masonic Hall Pambula for four weeks this coming Christmas.

 

From 

Wednesday 17 December to Tuesday 23rd Dec 

Monday 5th January to Friday 23rd January inclusive 

9 to 4pm

Sat 9 to 11:30 

 

ALL WELCOME TO HELP. 

THIS is an SJA community engagement and fundraiser.

 

I have volunteers for 

** Collection /. storage /.  delivery 

Martin McGee , Peter Reid , Gordon Barrat , Mark Smith , Neil Dawson .plus …….

 

Mb to coordinate this. Receive calls and liaise with collectors vis a vis days and times.

** recording gear collected – collect photos of all items and any related data.

** Roster – prepare shop roster and support team

** Finances    such as daily count and tap square and records.

** Entertainment – provide some local live entertainment as often as possible.

** Food snacks – when possible, to have snacks to accompany tea and coffee with urn.

NEED person, people to coordinate –

** publicity – someone to get the word out and engage with the WORLD.

 

** online information – someone to list and sell our gear through this method 

        Liaise with me as for delivery and Denise P will have the photos and data.

 

** electrical tagger.

 

**. Always need more storage sheds and garages.

 

#### PLEASE speak up and out if you a can help with publicity, online stuff, and electrical tagging.

 

2.  FROGI Part 2 is 

Online, year-long collection refurbishment and sale of gear. 

 

Have Toby Jennings keen in the refurbishment area.

Have Bega LALC keen to establish refurbishment and sale element supported by grant funding. 

Have SLO considering support of the FROGI 2.

Again, need online person (s) and possible grant to support this for part time wage and transport. 

 

What can I do ??? How may I help ???

We can make what has been a fourteen-year project into an even more sustainable, inclusive and successful initiative.
