SJASC Friends of Potoroo Palace • Working Bee Saturday 23rd May, 2026
Last Saturday’s working bee at Potoroo Palace was lots of fun, with 12 volunteers attending to support the ongoing care and improvement of the sanctuary. Despite less-than-ideal weather conditions, spirits remained high and as always a great deal was achieved.
Volunteers assisted with planting approximately 100 native plants, generously donated by Panboola and Mick enjoyed his time on the bob cat… turning over compost and moving soil. The day was productive and enjoyable, with plenty of laughter, and community connection and good will
It was especially encouraging to welcome several newcomers along, highlighting the growing support for Friends of Potoroo and the broader community effort to assist Potoroo Palace, Alexandra Seddon and Nicho. Thanks heaps Deb for the yummy homemade sausage rolls after the working bee
The next working bee is planned for July, when Friends of Potoroo SJA Environment Group will support whatever tasks are needed. I will advertise this event via SJA and personal email and on SJASC Facebook.
Everyone is warmly welcome to join future working bees and support this incredible local environmental and wildlife sanctuary

RIP SJA UTE – towing numerous caravans and loads of furniture over a number of years has worn out The Ranger – ‘Squizzy’s Tires and More’ Pambula ere currently repairing the vehicle.
Meantime you may see a hire vehicle around town. Give them a wave!
Thanks to Christine Welsh and her team
Thanks to Harvey Norman Tura Beach for allowing us to host a fundraising BBQ outside their store last Saturday.
We are especially grateful for the generous donation of the barbecue, tent, table and ice, along with the sausages, bread, onions and other supplies that made the day possible.
The BBQ proved very popular despite the cool weather, and we raised over $340.
These funds will go directly towards our projects supporting the people of the Bega Valley. The backing of a business like yours means a great deal to our community.
It is wonderful to see a national brand so genuinely invested in the people it serves — acting nationally while thinking locally.
