SJA News June 25 2025

Hi everyone,

Working Bee Saturday June 28 to clear out the shed at the Catholic Church Pambula

Access Behind the Catholic Church in Pambula via Bega St —. 8:30 to 11.

Gloves, water, trailers and we will clear a lot of old stuff that has sat there for up to about eight years.

Nothing too heavy but yes – a bit dirty ??!

Tip run – costs to SJA as this is the result of our last Samaritan op shop in

January 2019.

Plan is to load up all trailers and the truck and travel in convoy to tip about 10.

Coffee at Wild Ryes at 11am.

Hi friends,

Toast Cafe Pambula are hosting a casual garage sale from 8am on Sunday 29 June, and we’d love to see you there.

We’ll be pulling out a bits and pieces from the Toast stash – kids’ gear, homewares, catering bits, and other odds and ends – all in an effort to rustle up a few extra pennies for some odd jobs we want to do throughout winter.

We’re also setting up a Social Justice Advocates trestle table. Staff, SJA crew friends are welcome to contribute items for that table, with 100% of those sales going straight to SJA. You’re welcome to bring a tin for cash donations – we’ll also have an EFTPOS option and can tally and transfer funds to you after the event.

This won’t be a massive crowd, but it’ll be a lovely, low-key way to connect with the community, share conversations, and spread the word about what you do.

If you're coming along, make sure you promote it!  (Its on SJA Facebook)

Details:

🗓 Sunday 29 June

🕗 From 8am (until it naturally winds down)

📍 Toast Pambula, carpark at the back (we’ve got it to ourselves – just keeping accessible parking clear)

No need for anyone to RSVP. Just show up, bring some bits if you’ve got them, and come hang out.

Giiyong Festival returns in 2025 (and hopefully 2026!)

The next Giiyong Festival on 22 November 2025 will mark a major milestone in the history of the event, with Twofold Aboriginal Corporation just announced as the lead agency for the iconic multi-arts Aboriginal event on the Far South Coast of NSW.

Working in close partnership with Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council and with the continued, but reduced, support of South East Arts, this transition places Giiyong’s secure future firmly in Aboriginal hands.
