PAPUA NEW GUINEA PROJECT
Hi folks,
We cannot directly help those living in and around Yambali in the highlands of PNG.
But I am writing to create interest around the possibility of extending / continuing our local support for some of
those children living in the twelve settlements in and around Port Moresby.
Historically, as with our first SJA overseas support work in Kenya refugee
areas, PNG was chosen because of actual physical on the ground in person actions.
Part of the basis as to why we at SJA have always supported BVATL. (Bega Valley Advocates for Timor
Leste)
I have just returned from PNG where I have been engaged in housing and settlement sanitation works since
2009 every year until 2020 – something happened then to interrupt like disastrous fires and COVID!
Now I am keen to resume support.
With friend and collaborator Mark Smith, I visited a settlement again last week which I first helped in about
2011.
The We Care Foundation has been a constant supporter.  https://www.we-carefoundation.com.au/
NOTHING has changed except for a trebling of numbers of children being helped.
I have developed a plan and budget to build a toilet block and shower in this settlement where the community
is operating an early learning centre.
— 165 children, NO water, NO power, TWO drop toilets, NO washing facilities.
I was very fortunate to have Mark Smith with me who is interested in helping with this build.
The last one I had to partially sub contract which had its own problems.
This one together with local labour and skills we will build ourselves.
BUT I am seeking some funding to build this basic essential infrastructure.
May I humbly ask for financial HELP towards the budgeted $26,000 that this project which works to develop
both education and health will cost.

The main two costs ( about $14,000 ) are the connection to the water main and running water 140 m to the
small facility AND the enviro cycle septic unit .
I have photographs, a background paper and sketch to offer.
Once I have the budget covered, work can commence immediately!!!!!
The site is ready
please consider extending our previous support folks.
As I will continue to work through We Care Foundation, donations can be made directly to an account listed
below.
Receipt for all donations – advise details and formats please
Acknowledgment of all donations will be made.
Cheers
