Hello Members and Supporters,
As always you can keep up to date on our Facebook and Instagram pages, but there are some things we send only on email, and also for those who do not use social media, the following will keep you updated.
1) Working Bee TOMORROW Wednesday March 6 at Katungal Bega 8.30 am https://www.katungul.org.au/
Inside, easy jobs assembling furniture for their domestic violence program: Bring: Patience, Perserverance and a drill if you have one.
2) Good day to all Social Justice Advocates of the Sapphire Coast ( SJA ) members and friends.
This message gives each of you, and whomever else you might care to share this with, an opportunity to make personal donations to a fund set up to enable Gypsy Rigartos, an Indigenous Bega High School student, to travel on a school excursion to Japan in 2024.
Gypsy, along with her Year 10 Bega High Japanese class and their remarkable teacher, Miss Teranishi, has been presented with an opportunity to spend two weeks in Japan.
Gypsy will not be able to join the excursion without outside financial support.
A campaign to support Gypsy is being run by the Bega Local Aboriginal Land Council ( LALC ). The Bega LALC is contributing $800. Gypsy’s mum has paid the $300 deposit to secure Gypsy’s spot on the excursion. That leaves a gap of $3100 to fulfill Gypsy’s dream.
The LALC assures us that in the event that Gypsy is unable to attend due to insufficient funds, all contributions will be promptly returned to the individual or organisation that made the donation.
The Bega LALC bank details are :
– Name: Bega Local Aboriginal Land Council
– BSB: 062505
– Account: 28003017
When making a donation, kindly include “Gypsy’s Dream” in the description to ensure proper allocation.
Please consider making a personal donation, and spreading the word in support of Gypsy.
Thank you all
Peter Reid
