A Forum For Young People

Today we are exactly 2 weeks away from the kick-off of the 2022 Bega Valley Youth Forum!

The day will be held at the Bega Civic Centre and Littleton Gardens from 9 30am until 2 15pm on Friday May 27. The day will be focused on giving young people (12-24) a platform to raise their voice and tell the community what they want to see happen to make the Bega Valley a better place for young people to live, while also having some fun and enjoying themselves.

The day will include a number of guided discussions on key issues that have been raised by young people. These discussion will be facilitated by Headspace, the Funhouse, Campbell Page, The Crossing Land Education Centre, Eden Access Centre, and University of Wollongong & Innovation Hub.

Littleton Gardens and the Library will be full of fun activities on the day for young people to enjoy some free time. This will include pizza from Sapphire Coast Eats, a coffee and hot drink van, live music, an interactive art project, market stalls,  boxing sessions facilitated by PCYC, a Tech chillout space facilitated by 2pi, lawn games, and a range of other activities.

More info about the event, as well as registration info is here: Bega Valley Youth Forum – Bega Valley Shire Council (nsw.gov.au)

We are hoping to have approximately 200 young people there on the day. Most of the numbers have been made up by the local high schools who are all bringing large cohorts. But there are still spaces left for people between the age of 12-24 who are out of school. If you know anyone in this age range outside of school who has something to say about what’s needed in the Bega Valley, and loved free food and having fun, then please encourage them to register on the link above!

We’re putting a lot of effort into recording the ideas that come up in the discussions sessions, and the follow up from the forum will be:

Thanks everyone,
